How the weekly challenge works
A new challenge word search opens every Monday at 00:00 UTC — a different puzzle for each of three languages: English, Korean, and Japanese (hiragana), each with its own leaderboard. The Chinese interface joins with the English puzzle.
Themes follow a 52-week concept calendar aligned with the seasons. The same theme returns at the same time each year, but the grid itself is derived fresh every year, so last year's layout never repeats.
Each week's puzzles are derived deterministically from the week number and language, so everyone in the world gets the same grid. Only global records set within the week count, and the board freezes when the week ends.
No account is needed — just a nickname, and local records always stay on your device. Unlike custom puzzles you build yourself, which keep local records only, challenge puzzles post to the global board.

When does a new challenge start?
Every Monday at 00:00 UTC, all three language puzzles switch at once. Depending on your time zone that may be Sunday evening or Monday morning — the dates shown use UTC.
Can I play the other languages too?
Yes. The language tabs on this page let you switch freely between the English, Korean, and Japanese challenges. If you are studying a language, its word search doubles as fun vocabulary practice.
What happens if I use hints?
Your record still counts, and the number of hints used is shown alongside it. Hint-free records stand out on the board.
Can my own puzzle become a challenge?
Custom puzzles keep local records only, because their creator knows the layout and a fair race would be impossible. The global leaderboard opens only for the automatically derived weekly challenges and the curated theme puzzles.
